Adopt an
olive tree

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT
RURAL DEVELOPMENT, SUSTAINABILITY, TRADITION AND SOLIDARITY

Adopting an olive tree fundamentally means allowing farmers to maintain a traditional style of farming, while at the same time avoiding the depopulation of the territory.

This is why we came up with Adopta un olivo (Adopt an olive tree), a project that aims to recover and give value to the 365 olive trees planted approximately 200 years ago by the priest of the village of Belianes in La Finca Collet. Located in the Vall del Corb (Lleida), each of these trees represents one day of the year.

Where everyone else sees old, unproductive olive trees, we discover plants that are better able to cope with climate change. This is because their roots are more developed and, therefore, more resistant to drought. Finally, their olives develop flavours of greater complexity and are richer in aromatic compounds.

Health

The juice of our centenary olive trees is one of the secrets of the famous "Mediterranean Longevity".

La Vall del Corb, L'Urgell (Lleida)

La Vall del Corb

La Vall del Corb is a valley where life goes at a different pace and the colours of the seasons mark the passage of time. It is bathed by a small river, the Corb, and caressed by the Marinada, a wind that comes from the Mediterranean Sea. For a long time, man has cultivated a multitude of crops such as almond trees, olive trees, vineyards and cereals. The history of this valley is told by dry stone constructions, huts, old mills, churches and castles and its landscape is complemented by oak and pine forests. Walking and sightseeing are the best ways to discover and enjoy this marvellous place.

Environment

Trees need carbon dioxide to grow, so they capture and store it through photosynthesis. This process means that planting trees is now a 40-year solution that allows us to mitigate a portion of our emissions. This is the period of time it takes for a tree to become an adult and have a significant carbon demand.

ó l'Olivera

We work with local suppliers in order to promote the economy of the region. In fact, our cans and boxes are produced nationally. In addition, our oil is produced in the mill of the cooperative L'Olivera. This foundation works with people with disabilities and carries out its activity with the aim of favouring the personal promotion and social integration of this type of individuals, developing assistance, therapeutic and educational tools in an inclusive living and working space.

What is included?

Firstly, each year you will receive 3 litres of hand-picked extra virgin olive oil produced by the Sociedad Cooperativa l'Olivera.

Secondly, the label of the can is customizable with any desired name, for example, your family's surname.

Finally, you will be able to keep a close eye on the adopted tree. In fact, the tree will have a sign with the name indicated on the personalised can, you will receive its geolocation and we will be delighted to take you on a guided tour of the property by arranging a date in advance.
